Zero Grace is full of freedom and love, in fact, working with Leon Michels and Big Crown Records has encouraged Liam to be himself. On album opener “Holding On ” Bailey speaks to his observations & fears when looking out at the world in front of him and also to the dedication it has taken to get on the other side of his personal trials & tribulations. “Dance With Me” is an instantly infectious two-stepper that nods to those incredible soul records that were coming out of Jamaica during the early Reggae days. Bailey steps into the dance with hopes of finding a new love and pulls us all out on the dance floor with him. “Disorder Starts At Home” is another close to the chest tune that addresses the difficulties he struggles with from his early chaotic childhood and his progress in getting past them. “Mercy Tree” is a powerhouse of Reggae Rebel Music. Bailey addresses the racial tensions that plague humanity and encourages everyone to step up and do their part to help foster equality. What starts out as a declaration of injustice turns into a call for action and an inspiration for hope.

Bailey has managed another album that moves across genres but remains entirely cohesive. The title Zero Grace represents his uninhibited energy. He wears his heart on his sleeve, he speaks his mind without filters, and he has little concern for formalities where his ambitions are concerned. He won’t be held back ever. Coming off the heels of 2022's A New Kind of Love, A Trip To The Moon sees GFO diving even deeper in the worlds of film music, exotica, and psychedelic surf rock. The aim is to create a layered and collaged listening experience with more elements than you could possibly pick out in a single listen. The guitars are fuzzy and flooded with spring reverb, and the horns are arranged in a studio big band fashion. It's full of big compositions with garage rock attitude. Influences range everywhere from Eddie Palmieri and Esquivel to The Lively Ones, Dusty Springfield, and War. The tracks are tied together by real recorded transmissions from the Apollo moon missions. The concept for the album is a story about a woman stranded on earth by her cosmonaut partner, left to ponder his whereabouts and whether or not he'll make it back from the cosmos alive.  

LIVING TESTAMENT is the final album Vaughn Benjamin recorded before he transitioned in November of 2019. In late October of 2019, he travelled to Grass Valley, California, recording this 11-track album at Ras Biblical’s studio, Trinity Farm, over a period of 2 days. The producers gathered 11 masterful musicians on these tracks, including Manuel “Go A Chant” Guerra, Denfield “Ras Pulse” Potter, Walker Pillow, Scott Lynwood Davis, Befekadu Assefa and Tuff Lion. Together, these musicians weaved together a powerful family of songs that that tell a timeless and truly unique story, a masterpiece of roots reggae.

Soom T aka “The Raggamuffin Queen” presents her sixth studio album “The Louder The Better”. Soul Jazz Records’ new second collection of twisted hyperspace electro/funk ‘Space Funk 2: Afro Futurist Electro Funk in Space 1976-84’, continues its intergalactic journey. Featuring rare and off-the-wall space funk and electro rarities and obscurities all released on small independent USA record labels in the late 1970s and 1980s.

2023 marks 35 years since the first single by The Brand New Heavies.

In 1963, a 21-year-old welder with dreams of becoming a full-time singer-songwriter, auditioned for one of Jamaica’s new elite record producers, Leslie Kong, owner of the recently launched Beverley’s Records label. After performing a number of original compositions, a deal was secured and within weeks, Desmond Adolphus Dacres saw his name in print as ‘Desmond Dekker’ on the labels of what would prove to be the first of his catalogue of 7” singles.

Love Is All I Bring showcases the very talented female performers of Trojan Records, who in the world of reggae can often to be overlooked. Featuring vocals from the likes of Millie Small, Althea & Donna, Marcia Griffith, Phyllis Dillion, and Susan Cadogan plus productions by Sonia Pottinger this all female collection also includes personal album notes from musician Rhoda Dakar.

That these are no empty rhymes but phrases that express a serious life focus for UK-based artist Macka B is not only demonstrated by his weekly Medical Mondays and Wha Me Eat Wednesdays videos, but is now also audibly reflected in his new album Health Is Wealth. Teaming up with Greensleeves Records, this 16-course-release takes you on a life-improving trip through diverse issues of mental and physical health. In a true worldwide effort, the tracks were produced in Jamaica, the US, the UK, Japan (Akihiro Hotto of Sunnyside Music is responsible for the fine Sleng Teng relick of Natural Herb) and Germany. The latter is represented by Oneness Records who contributed the instrumental version for the pensive Gangster, a lyrical statement against gun violence livicated to the memory of Shamore "Chadie" Grant and Akeem "Squidley" Henrdicks, "two young kings lost to the gang and gangster", as the corresponding video tells us.

The Max Romeo album from 1975 gets the re-issue & remastered treatment on CD in a tri-fold digipak cover with original sleeve artwork with printed innersleeves and comprehensive linernotes.

Recorded at Randy’s Studio 17 and Lee Perry’s Black Ark, Max Romeo’s "Revelation Time" is rightfully regarded as one of the cornerstones of Jamaican music. Released in JA in 1975 on the Black World label the album was picked by United Artist for US release and later listed in The Rough Guide to Reggae as one of the essential reggae albums to own. Includes the classic Lee Perry production "Three Blind Mice" and one of the all-time killer herbman anthems "A Quarter Pound Of I'Cense". Collector's Note: The "Revelation Time" album is also known as the "Open The Iron Gate" album.

The story behind this album--released in 2000 but recorded in 1978--is nearly Biblical: a tale of optimism, lost hope, and finally redemption that's fitting for its roots reggae/Rasta consciousness theme. In 1976, Vulcan released Fred Locks's debut set, "Black Star Liners." The album became a reggae classic, its title tune--a Garveyite view of repatriation--an anthem. With producer Hugh "Jah Shoes" Boothe, Locks recorded a follow-up set in '78. But Vulcan folded, and neither Boothe nor Locks had the cash to release the album, which was then abandoned. Over the next 20 years an original tape was lost, others damaged. Then, years later, the missing cassette surfaced, and the tapes were restored.

The line-up of musicians is stellar, including Jahlovemuzik's celebrated Albert Malawi on drums and Pablove Black on keyboards and backup vocals, and "Rastafari Rule" and "The Only One" (and its dub) are standouts on this fine album and piece of reggae history.

Kieren Hebden: “I was listening to some of his new beats and studio sessions when I had the idea that it would be great to hear some of these ideas made into a Madlib solo album ... arranged into tracks that could all flow together in an album designed to be listened to start to finish ... we decided to work on this together with him sending me tracks, loops, ideas and experiments that I would arrange, edit, manipulate and combine. I was sent hundreds of pieces of music over a couple of years.”

Releasing on Big Crown Records, the LP is called Glorious Game and it is a remarkable debut partnership in more ways than one. Michels provides his bottom-heavy, soul-tinged production for Black Thought who gives us some of the more personal and transparent verses we've ever heard from him.

Originally released independently, however, with the support and distribution of Rozenblit, the 1973 album featuring Lula Cortes, Zé Ramalho and Robertinho de Recife is part of the holy trilogy of «Psicodelia Nordestina» amongst the equally mindblowing Paebiru (1975) and Satwa (1973).

The Bob Andy catalogue is one of the most celebrated in the history of Jamaican music.

His touchstone LP from Studio One is a best-selling singles compilation simply entitled Song Book, a cornerstone of the Studio One catalogue.

This Is Augustus Pablo is considered among the greatest collections of Jamaican instrumental music and is an essential part of reggae history.

At long last, the legendary unreleased Still Cool album! Producer Carl "Stereo" Fletcher had been planning this LP on his Uprising label since the late 1970's. In fact, a version of it was released in Lagos, Nigeria, but that pressing was apparently minute and now nearly impossible to find.* So, finally properly released nearly 40 years later, here it is. Still Cool, like Stereo and his Uprising label, were part of the vibrant musical arm of the 12 Tribes of Israel Rastafarian group in the 1970's. Still Cool regularly performed on 12 Tribes stage shows, just check the photos in our LP & CD jackets. Four of the ten tracks on this album were released as singles back in the day, including one ("Sweeter Music") credited only to Still Cool vocalist Frankie Diamond. The other six tracks have never been released until now. This is a fantastic 1970's roots harmony album that should appeal to fans of classic harmony a la The Abyssinians, Mighty Diamonds, Wailing Souls, Burning Spear, Culture and Bob Marley & The Wailers. The CD version includes six bonus tracks of alternate and extended mixes, culled from rare 45 and 12-inch singles, as well as longer/unedited versions of the 10 album tracks. Both the CD and LP layouts include incredible photos from of the musicians and producer from back in the day. One of our finest releases yet, we hope you enjoy this album as much as we do.

Reissue of the classic 1969 album. Don Drummond was a legendary figure in the golden age of ska where his musicianship and compositions made such a lasting impact. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1932, and played with many luminaries of the Jamaican music scene, most famously with the Skatalites from 1964 until his conviction for murder in 1965. He died in an asylum, reputedly of suicide, in 1969 after a lifetime plagued by mental illness. This album was originally released on vinyl in 1969 after his death, but this release has additional material from Treasure Isle's back catalogue including the original ska versions of songs remixed for the earlier release, the complete track list from an album released as The Skatalite and other Drummond recordings from 1961-4.

Digitally remastered edition of this Reggae classic. In the autumn of 1969, the British Pop charts were stormed by series of hard-hitting Reggae singles, released by the recently launched Trojan Records. Among those leading this vanguard was a vocal trio that over the preceding year had enjoyed a series of major Jamaican triumphs: The Pioneers. Comprised of Sydney Crooks, Jackie Robinson and George Agard, their international breakthrough came with the equine-themed 'Long Shot Kick de Bucket' (later covered by the Specials), which reached #21 in UK Pop charts and prompted the release of the best-selling long-player, Long Shot. Spectrum.

Susan Cadogan broke through in 1975 with the massive UK Number 4 hit and title track ‘Hurt So Good’ before releasing this album a year later. Produced by the legendary Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, this is the original 11 track album, expanded out to 20 tracks on this essential re-issue.

The late '60s witnessed the development and rise to musical dominance of Reggae, with this new, dynamic style rapidly usurping the more languid sound of Rock Steady, which had reigned in Jamaica since 1966. Early Reggae recordings were noted for their tempo and energy, but by the early seventies, the tempo has slowed significantly, with the mellow vibe commonly associated with the sound gradually established. In more recent years, the inaugural, high-energy version of the genre that acquired a strong and dedicated following among Britain's original Skinheads, has become accepted as a sub-genre of it's own, with the style acquiring the label, 'Boss Reggae'. 'This aptly-titled 2 CD set highlights 40 of the most popular and sought-after tracks in the style, and with 18 of the tracks new to CD, this is most definitely the Boss of all Skinhead Reggae collections!

In 1969 reggae and the skinhead look hit the big time in the UK. The fortunes of the music and new look were of course closely intertwined, with skinheads largely instrumental in propelling the music from Jamaica into the British charts. But while the singles and albums that became hits have since provided the focus for numerous compilations, the lesser known records, bought by the die-hards and aficionados, have been largely overlooked.

On his new album Moss once-again draws upon the vast scope of experimentation that has defined Chicago’s musical universe over the last half a century – from the birth of house music with the pioneers Ron Hardy, Marshall Jefferson, Lil Louis and others to the radical avant-garde jazz legacy of the city - The Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, The Art Ensemble of Chicago and Sun Ra.

Chicago’s musical universe continues to push-further forward today with artists such as Hieroglyphic Being, Angel Bat Dawid, Makaya McCraven, and labels such as International Anthem label and Hieroglyphic Being’s own Mathematics, all continuing to explore radical new music while drawing upon the city’s decidedly Afro-futurist lineage.

Jamal Moss, aka Hieroglyphic Being, remains at all-times a radical one-off musical explorer, a resolute pioneer of an avant-garde dance music aesthetic taking lineage from the founding fathers of acid house such as Ron Hardy and Adonis, and pushing the musical form to its own limits, adding his own harder almost industrial edge to this unique sound, which Moss sometimes describes as ‘Outsider House’ or, referencing the earlier avant-garde musical resident and pioneer, Sun Ra - ‘Rhythmic Cubism’ and ‘Cosmic Be-Bop’.

Hieroglyphic Being’s music crosses many boundaries and has led to remixes of a wide and diverse list of artists from St Vincent to Hans-Joachim Roedelius (the pioneering German electronic composer and member of Cluster), King Gizzard and the Lizard Gizzard to Adonis and many more. In similar fashion his music has appeared on Ghostly/Spectral, Warp, Ninja, Axis and his own Mathematics Recordings.

Jamal Moss first began working with Soul Jazz Records in 2015 and has released two solo albums (‘The Acid Documents’ in 2015, ‘The Red Notes’ in 2018) as well as a third album under the guise of Africans with Mainframes (with Nolan Reusse in 2017).

After the release of their widely acclaimed debut album ‘On The Grove’ in March, Soul Revivers return with a dub version of the record: ‘Grove Dub’ out 14 October, 2022.

Originally issued in 1972, Reggae And Soul Hits features the best of a teenage Dennis Brown’s recordings for celebrated producer, Derrick Harriott.

10 brand new recordings from the legendary Jamaican singer and longtime Massive Attack collaborator, Horace Andy, produced by Adrian Sherwood. Midnight Rocker has been approached in a similar fashion to the late-career quality that Sherwood coaxed out of Lee "Scratch" Perry with the Rainford and Heavy Rain albums, assembling a crack team of players and spending many months perfecting performance, arrangements and mixing.

The result is a remarkable suite of tracks that sparkle with superb musicianship, carefully crafted production and Horace's beautiful vocals. The material includes revisiting and updating a few classic Horace Andy songs such as 'Mr. Bassie', but the bulk of the tracks are brand new compositions with contemporary messages, such as 'Watch Over Them' and 'Materialist'. The pair have also versioned 'Safe From Harm', a much-loved early single by the group that Andy is most associated with ' Massive Attack.
