2019 is off to a hot start as TRS present this double sided Digi-thriller from 1987 produced by Ras Sipho. Originally released on his uncle Jimmy Cliff's Oneness label, Newton “Sipho” Merritt learned his production craft from the best being naturally exposed to the music and destined to become a producer himself. In the days when Reggae was taking a digital turn, Sipho took on the duties of bringing up rising artists of that time such as Andy Tosh and Frankie Willmott to name a few. Both here featured with 'Lick A Shot" and 'Sensimilla' (aka Give Me No Rock) resurfaced here again. As far as the name "Sipho" goes, Merritt explains that when he was in South Africa, on tour with the Oneness band he saw a local woman in tears, looking at him. Through an interpreter, he found out her son had been killed in a South African uprising, looked exactly like him. “I told her that I will be her new son, but I didn’t have an African name. She called me Sipho, which means gifted in Zulu. That’s what I go by."

Barrington Levy needs little introduction, and this him in his prime, with the rich voice and great lyrics he's known for backed by the earth shattering riddim section of the Roots Radics. These forgotten gems were produced by Milton Welch and final mix-down laid by Jim Fox of Lion & Fox Recording Studio. We present our 4 favourite tracks accompanied by their ferocious dubs in all their glory 'Jah A The Creator' 'Little Children Cry' 'Hypocrites' and 'Oh Jah, Can't You See' for the first time ever released on vinyl.

Ubiquity's founder Michael McFadin spent most of his youth on the burgeoning Southern California punk rock scene. Later when he became a DJ during the rare groove era there was one record from his past that was a quirky staple in his sets "Down At The Laundry Mat" by Black Randy and The Metro Squad. "Whenever I play it someone asks me about it and I've never grown tired of it" says Michael "so we decided to rerelease it". Most commonly known for its inclusion on the single-sided, clear vinyl Yes LA compilation that was released on the Dangerhouse label and also included songs by The Germs, The Bags and others. The flip "Give It Up Or Turn It Loose" was on the only album by Black Randy and The Metro Squad "Pass The Dust, I Think I'm Bowie" and is a freaked out, garagey, ritalin-infused version of this JB classic!

Legendary Reggae vocalist Cornell Campbell is to release a new E.P entitled ‘Time For Peace’, to mark the 52nd Anniversary of Martin Luthur King Jr’s assassination, 4th April 2021(Digital release! Vinyl released 9/9/21).

Taking its title from Cornell’s lyrical addition to Black Man In A White World, “I want you to understand, I need, I need everyone to hang on, in love, peace and unity”, the new 12” EP features bold interpretations of two of soul music's most iconic songs about race, identity and injustice.

Both Michael Kiwanuka’s ‘Black Man In A White World’ and ‘Outernational Blues’ - a take on the Marvin Gaye classic ‘Inner City Blues’ - evoke the sentiment and spirit of MLK’s peaceful protest, and act as a reminder as to the importance of grace, pride and dignity in difficult times. Capturing a unique combination of vocal vulnerability and wisdom, this is music that demands deep listening. Cornell Campbell’s voice at 75, carries a new found poignancy and depth of emotion; one which feels perfectly suited to delivering an elders perspective on such emotionally loaded topics.

The E.P was recorded and produced over four countries, with the music for all tracks having been recorded in London, England at The Total Refreshment Centre, before being voiced in Kingston Jamaica at Anchor Studios. Additional backing vocals were added at Heritage Recording Co in Burbank, California, before the track was finally mixed and produced by Sergio Lopez, in Andalucia, Spain.

‘Time For Peace’ is the first in a series of four releases from icons of reggae, including ‘Time For Love’ by Tabby Diamond, of The Mighty Diamonds, ‘Time For Change’ by Fred Locks and ‘Time For Unity’ by Big Youth; all to be released on limited 12” vinyl.

“Fragile Things” is the Ubiquity debut by French producer Dandy Teru. As part of the burgeoning “Beat Scene”, in France, and with inclusion in fellow beatmaker Tall Black Guy’s “Tempo Dreams Vol.1” for Bastard Jazz, Dandy Teru’s signature, cinematic production style has established himself as a producer to take note of, and one that’s to be “watched”. Featuring British rapper Ty and vocals by Sarah Gessler (Beatspoke) as well as a remix by his production partner Quiet Dawn, this limited 12” single provides a great “taster” of what’s yet to come.

Featuring 101 different artists, Down In Jamaica tells this story in detail through a chronological survey of the key songs that helped define the company from early singles on obscure sublabels to the well-known VP Records brand that brought Beenie Man, Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder, and others into the international mainstream. Curated by Carter Van Pelt, VP Records’ Director Of Catalog Development, the set contains four 7-inch singles, four 12-inch singles, and four CDs, the first configuration of its kind in a box set package. The singles format was the dominant vehicle for Jamaican music from its inception, and the collection tells the story almost entirely from singles. The set takes its name from Red Fox and Naturalee’s 1989 single.

After we showed you how low we can go, it's about time to enter your mind through sound and space with our upcoming record release. The danish producer Dub Across Borders is known for boundbreaking dubwise electronics and already spreaded his dubs on labels like 45Seven and Polen Records. We're very happy to welcome our longtime friend to the label with his first four track EP titled Spirit Dimension.

DCM011 - "Fyah" features Wellette Seyon on vocals for the title track, followed by a triumphant horns cut from Dubkasm's brilliantly talented Digistep on the sax. After that, Dub Conductor take a journey deep into the mixing board with two dubwise cuts of the rhythm, with additional melodica melodies from Lucadread. Dub Conductor have been crafting this track for more than 5 years! After many many versions of the Rhythm, we can say for certain that we are happy with the result - crisp, clear dubs which blend roots and steppas music just the way we like it!
