Recorded and produced by aDUBta at his Attic Roots Studio in Bavaria, Germany, and cut from the same writing sessions with singer Marcus I, "Listen Up My Son" further continues the authentic early roots reggae sound this collaboration is bursting on the scene with. With a rich analog sound, polished and mixed by aDUBta on his Tascam 388, to the soulful vocal tone of Marcus I, this new 7" brings the groove down in tempo, transporting you straight to Jamaica during the 1960s & 70s. Prince Istari. The basic of this tune goes way back to 1995 where the young Prince Istari had some friends over at his and recording some live dubs on a house party. Flipside we find our way into joyfull dreamscape disco dub with psychadelic guitar and flute solo played by Prince Istari. This one is kind of a special tune. I hope you enjoy!  

Prince Istari in the 4th Grade of the Riddim Dub School brings a one drop tune on the first side called ‚Gone Too Soon‘. Prince Istari plays here the opening acustic guitar solo. then the tunes flaps into heavy spring reverbation in a drum and bass style just to swing back into a melodic part with some uplifting melancholic mallets solo. Poor Man’s Friend Records is proud to present a brand new 7” featuring the legendary Cornell Campbell. This 45 delivers a powerful message from The Gorgon, a prolific artist whose recording career spans over 60 years. First recording for the venerable Coxone Dodd at Studio one, Mr Campbell has built a cult following with his trademark Falsetto voice. Equally adept at writing beautiful love songs as he is deep spiritual roots cuts, It's fair to say many of his works have become Iconic milestones in the evolution of the genre. In the year 2025 Cornell Campbell warns us of the pitfalls of living our life in an egotistical way, “ Just try sweeping up your backyard, before you find fault with people's yard.” A searing condemnation of those that judge others based on their wealth, this mid seventies style roots production was cut by the Poor Man’s Friend Rhythm section at their studio in Bristol. The B side dub was masterfully orchestrated by label stalwart Yakka, whilst the horns were played by Cornerstone Horn section.

One of the most legendary voices in grime, Footsie is without a doubt a true don. From his early link up with fellow Newham General D Double E, to his solo output, the influence of sound system culture has always been prevalent. Having grown up as the son of a system operator obviously had a deep impact, so much so that he now runs Father Waz's renowned King Original Sound himself, playing roots reggae and dub. Making a welcome return to the label is Nottingham's Adam Prescott, who released his very first single with us back in 2010 (the massive "On A Dubstep Tip") who provides the deep and heavy dubwise riddim for Footsie to let loose on.

Bump and company’s first single release, “I Can Remember” momentarily recalls The Delfonics’ “Do You Remember” before flipping its melody the other way around. On the B-side, “Standing On The Outside” makes further appeals to the lowrider set, brake-pedaling the tempo a notch or two.

“Living in the Past” is a nostalgic drift through wistful falsetto and low-riding narration, while “Strange Happenings” is truly exceptional: an unnaturally good funk workout from a virtually undocumented Kansas City soul act. Two Ltd edition colourway 7" vinyl pressings. 

As disco was cresting at the top of the next decade, Sharon Revoal tracked her James Brown meets James Bond stepper "Reaching For Our Star"—the last 45 released on Marva Whitney's peerless Forte label. This 2024 pressing is available on black or natural colour vinyl and comes housed in a colorful, sturdy sleeve for easy crate location.
